Race Program

The need for SPEED!

Since the 2014-15 season, Oak Mountain has been building a race team. Our program has developed into a ten-week program, starting in December and ending in March, occurring on Saturdays and Sundays. Our coaches set up gates every weekend for training purposes. Training includes, but is not limited to, fundamentals such as carved race turns, stance and balance, aerodynamics, approaching and exiting gates, equipment and ski maintenance, etc. We strive for our racers to achieve perfect form and find speed, while we encourage our racers to have fun with the sport, help each other become better skiers and build lasting friendships with their teammates and coaches.

2019-20 will be our sixth season and with the Race Program being a USSA (United States Ski Association) Club, our USSA/NYSSRA (New York State Ski Race Association) Certified racers will be attending races. With our participation in USSA/NYSSRA, we hope that this program will grow larger in the coming years and encourage more children to become a part of Oak Mountain’s Race Team.  For information on sponsoring opportunities for the race team, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Program Details:

Race team members will work with the coaches on perfecting their skills, race techniques, working in the gates, and try to improve their time. Timing will be used for training purposes. Timing not only helps the coaches keep track of progress, but will help encourage healthy competition, team spirit, and good sportsmanship while the racers perfect their technique and time.

Schedule: To be released at the sign-up day on September 28th at 11am and will be available by email after.

If your child does not participate in USSA/NYSSRA races, they will have race days off from training, but they have the option of supporting their other team members by attending races as a spectator and cheering them on. Sunday Races may be attended at the following mountains: Woods Valley, Snow Ridge, McCauley, Royal Mountain and Dry Hill.
